Be Present With God and With Each Other
If we were asked what one of our biggest keys was as a family I would say it is, “Be Present with God and with each other.” Since Lahmi and I met, we have really tried to follow God’s peace and over and over again throughout our journey He has said ,”don’t worry about the future, be present.”
We had just gotten married in the Philippines and were traveling around Southeast Asia when God opened the door for us to come to America to visit family. We had both been traveling all around the world for years and we just wanted to keep going. But it turned out to be more than a visit, we found out that we were pregnant with our firstborn, Ezekiel and so when the time came for us to choose whether to leave or stay we decided to stay. After having Ezekiel, God started showing us to just enjoy the moments, enjoy the time together. There were many times that we would be asking God where He wanted us or day dreaming about other nations but God kept telling us to be present where we were. He kept reassuring us with His peace that we were right where He wanted us and we were not missing out.
I believe that God desires for us to be present, to see who and what He has given us today. As we are present, we are walking in His plans and His purpose for our lives. When we are so focused on the future and something that might be one day, we can easily become discontent, distracted, and always wanting more. When we learn to be present with Him and with one another then we can see the fullness of what He has for us right now knowing that He has a future for us that we also will need to be present in. You never know what will come each day, He sees it all and knows it all and if we are present with Him, we can hear Him speak in a moment instead of striving and doing it on our own. The best place you could be is right where He has you. Let’s not put Him in a box and expect the unexpected from Him. He is a good Father!
I encourage you today to let the anxieties of the future or the regrets of the past go and focus on Him. Ask Him to help you be present, to see the people and the opportunities around you. Let’s be present and enjoy Him and one another. Take joy in knowing He is right here with you today!
In Romans 8:37-39 it talks about how nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. So nothing in your past, nothing in your future, nothing that you don’t have or don’t see now can separate you from Him but you have everything you need to live fully alive in Him today!
