Peace that passes understanding

“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12

Peace is so vital to our faith in Jesus and our walk with Him. Growing up I struggled with worry and in my teen years I struggled with worry and sometimes crippling anxiety. Whenever I encountered Jesus I remember feeling His peace, it felt like I could breathe for the first time. It was like I wasn’t tied to all of these worries in my head and all of the pressure from the world. In a moment I encountered His peace, and this became a compass for me. As believers we have been given the Holy Spirit and one of the greatest manifestations of the Holy Spirit is peace. We can be led forth by this peace if we will recognize it and yield our will to it.

In a world that is so busy and where everything and everyone is trying to pull us, we tend to respond to and be led by pressure, stress, demands, comparison, money, work, etc. But God designed us to follow His voice and His word. We get to step away from striving and toiling and the daily grind and tap into the Prince of Peace! I encourage you that if you are feeling stressed, anxious, worried, rushed, pressured, take a step back and ask God what He really has for You! Spend time with Him and encounter Him in His Presence. Jesus is peace and when we encounter Him in His Presence we will recognize Him and His peace as we go throughout our day. He hasn’t created us to be confused and worried but to have peace in Him, to rest in Him and to be confident that He has a plan for our lives. When He saved us, Jesus took away our sins and made us at peace with God and we have access to that peace because He is the Prince of Peace. He is with us.

Our friend prayed over us one time to “follow the pace of peace” and that has stuck with us. God has a specific pace that is very different than the world’s pace. Let us yoke ourselves to Him and be led forth by His peace! Let His peace wash over you daily and throughout your day!
